Every year in April, Old Town Albuquerque celebrates Founders Day with a Fiesta of music, dance and food. We recognize the blend of three major cultures--Native American, Spanish and Anglo--which combined to make Albuquerque one of the most unique cities in the United States.
This year's line-up of festivities includes music, dancing and entertainment throughout Old Town from noon to 5:00 p.m., a parade around Old Town beginning at 3:00 p.m., a costume contest, and, of course, food! There will also be a special area for children at Plaza Don Luis featuring face painting, arts and crafts. Don't miss juggling, acrobatics and magic from the popular entertainment group Clan Tynker.
Parking: The streets inside the Old Town historic district will be closed. Free parking is available in the surrounding areas but it may be difficult to find a space. There are also paid parking lots around Old Town.
Location: Old Town is located just north of Central Avenue, east of Rio Grande Blvd.
Public transportation: You can take the 66 bus or the 766 bus (Rapid Ride) to the stop at Rio Grande Blvd. and Central Avenue and walk across Rio Grande Blvd. into Old Town. Click here for more bus routes and schedules.
I’m having fun--come on along!
